Please join us at our first of many clean ups for 2012! We will meet Sat April 21st at 9:00 AM on the corner of Stricker and Lombard St. Come out, meet your neighbors, enjoy some refreshments and make a difference!

This event coincides with the Mayor's Spring Clean Up and kicks off the Union Square Association entry in the City's Clean Community Competition. Winning communities will receive cash prizes to benefit their community association and activities.
Clean Community Competition 2012
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake and the Department of Public Works are challenging Baltimore City communities to get involved and get Baltimore growing – starting right in our own neighborhoods.

Baltimore is getting back to basics and asking communities to join us in tackling their sanitation challenges block by block. It is time to promote positive behaviors and set a new standard of clean for our City.

All official community associations are invited to participate in this friendly competition.

Communities will be judged on categories including but not limited to:
  • Recycling tonnage
  • Increase household participation in recycling
  • The percentage of households using trash cans with lids
  • The greatest increase in use of trash cans
  • Decrease in requests for alley and street cleaning
  • Decrease in requests for vacant lot cleaning
  • And extra credit for adopting vacant lots!
Keep a scrap book for our judges documenting your hard work and showing off your great results!

Winning communities will receive cash prizes to benefit their community association and activities.
Residents are encouraged to get involved as the Union Square Association participates in this competition. Winning communities will be announced at the Mayor’s Fall Clean Up on Saturday, October 27. Union Square could win $5,000 or $1,000.
